Check the receiver name

The name shown in your UPI app should match the shop, person, parking operator, restaurant, or bill you expected. If the name looks unrelated, ask before paying.

Check the VPA or UPI ID

Look for odd handles, misspellings, or personal IDs where you expected a business account. A small shop may use a personal ID, but you should still confirm it.

Check the amount and note

Some QR codes include a fixed amount and note. Make sure they match the bill. Be careful with notes that mention refund, reward, KYC, verification, or urgent fee.

Check who gave you the QR

A QR on a printed bill is different from a QR sent by an unknown WhatsApp account. A QR on the counter is different from a QR shown by a stranger outside the shop.

Never use PIN to receive money

If someone says you must enter your UPI PIN to receive cashback, refund, prize, or support credit, treat it as a warning sign.

ScanRaksha on Google Play helps you preview UPI QR details before you continue to the payment app.
