1. Overview
ScanRaksha is a QR fraud protection app that helps users inspect QR code content before opening links, paying through supported payment apps, joining networks, or downloading files.
2. Information Stored Locally
The app stores limited information locally on your device, such as theme choice, app settings, and scan history. Scan history may include decoded QR content, risk level, and the explanation shown to you in the app.
Scan history is stored on your device for your convenience. RJLabs does not consume, review, sell, or use your locally saved scan history.
3. Camera and QR Scanning
ScanRaksha uses camera access to scan QR codes. QR decoding is designed to happen before opening any link or payment app. The app does not need contacts, SMS, microphone, or location access for the MVP experience.
4. Firebase Analytics
We may use Google Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and improve reliability and product quality.
Analytics may include app interactions, screens viewed, device and app information, and broad usage events. We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
5. Advertising
Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers, device information, and ad interaction data to load and measure ads. The public app-ads.txt file for this app is hosted at /app-ads.txt.
Google Ads policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
6. URL and Reputation Checks
When a scanned QR contains a web URL, the app may send the minimum URL data needed to ScanRaksha's Firebase Cloud Function to check redirects, Google Web Risk reputation, headers, and download signals. Sensitive personal data should not be required for QR risk checks.
For Deep + AI checks, ScanRaksha may check both the original scanned URL and the resolved final URL after redirects. These URLs may be processed by ScanRaksha's backend and by Google Web Risk to return the result shown in the app.
ScanRaksha's backend does not intentionally store scanned QR contents or raw scanned URLs as backend scan history. To improve speed, reliability, and cost control, the backend may store privacy-preserving Web Risk cache records keyed by hashed canonical URLs. These cache records may include a URL hash, reputation provider, threat match status, threat types when found, check time, expiry time, and deletion time. They do not include the raw QR payload or raw URL.
7. How We Use Information
- operate QR scanning and warning features
- improve app reliability and usability
- measure product usage and crashes
- respond to support requests
- support ads and monetization
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data may be processed by Google Firebase, Google Web Risk, Google Play, Google AdMob, or reputation providers if those features are enabled.
9. Data Retention and Choices
- Local app preferences and scan history remain on your device until you delete history, clear app data, or uninstall.
- Web Risk cache records are retained for a limited period, generally at least 14 days for active cache use unless configuration increases that period. Expired cache records may remain briefly until backend cleanup or database TTL deletion runs.
- Support emails are retained as needed to respond.
- Google services retain data according to their own policies.
- You can uninstall the app, clear app data, or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
10. Children
ScanRaksha is not directed to children under 13.
11. Changes
